Mirgor is an Argentinean technological company that manufactures and distributes consumer electronics, auto parts, as well as exporting agricultural commodities and oilseeds.

Mirgor is based in the province of Tierra del Fuego, with factories in Rosario City and headquartered in Buenos Aires, Argentina.[6] It encompasses six business units: Mirgor Manufacturing, Mirgor Retail, Mirgor Logistics (Mirlog), Mirgor Distribution, Mirgor Innovation and Mirgor Agriculture.[7][8][9]

History[]

Mirgor S.A.C.I.F.I.A. was founded in 1983[10] when its first industrial plant of air conditioning systems for cars was set up in the city of Río Grande in the province of Tierra del Fuego.[11][12][13][14]

In 1995 Mirgor acquired Interclima, a supplier of heat exchangers. Around 2004 the company started to manufacture home air conditioning[11][15] and in 2006 it began clumping activity for General Motors in the city of Rosario, Santa Fe.[16][17]

In 2009 the group bought a company of consumer electronics called Industria Austral de Tecnología S.A. ("IATEC"), while in 2010 Mirgor started to make Nokia cell phones (currently Microsoft)[18] and in 2011, LG televisions.[19][20]

Since 2012 Mirgor manufactures audio and video equipment as well as microwaves[21] and, from 2013, Dell notebooks.[18][22]

Between 2014 and 2015 through its subsidiary IATEC, it started to assemble Samsung cell phones and Smart TVs[18] and Pioneer electronic products for cars.[11][13]

In 2017 Mirgor created a company called GMRA for retail of electronic, electric and cellphone products.[21]

In 2019 Mirgor acquired Holdcar, a holding of companies like Famar and Electrotécnica[23] which manufactures radios, infotainment, electronic control modules, alarms for the automotive industry[24] and hardware and software integrated to cars.[25] Famar makes residential modems and cell phones as well.[26]

In October 2020 Mirgor acquired the Argentinean subsidiary of Brightstar.[27]

Business Units[]

Mirgor Manufacturing[]

Mirgor has six production plants to the manufacture products for the automotive industry, mobile telephony and consumer electronics.

Regarding the car production, the company is subdivided into 3 units: wheel assembly, infotainment and air conditioning[28][29] for Toyota, Fiat, Volvo,[21] Peugeot and Citroën, for whom it provides electronic modules.[30] In 2017, it earned the IATF 16949:2016 Certification,[31] which complements the ISO 9001:2015 certification.[32]

The company produces Samsung cell phones and Smart TVs for the consumer electronics market.[21][33]

Mirgor Retail[]

The group has been in charge of the official Samsung E-Commerce channels as well as dealing with resellers, department stores across the country, mobile network operators and sales and customer care.[21][34] The company has developed Samsung’s own marketplace in Argentina called Diggit.[35]

Mirgor Logistics

Mirgor has its own logistics and distribution center located in Garín, Province of Buenos Aires.[36][13]

Mirgor Distribution

Mirgor Distribution distributes its own manufactured products and gives local distribution and international commercialization to other manufacturers, retailers, resellers, telephone operators and other third parties.[37]

Mirgor Agriculture

In 2019 Mirgor began exporting commodities, firstly wheat and soybeans[38] and then corn.[39][40]

Mirgor Innovation[]

Mirgor Innovation is a division that develops advanced engineering, software engineering and mechanical engineering projects. The most relevant developments include four vehicle infotainment platforms.[40] As part of the Mirgor Innovation Unit, the company developed Artificial Respirators project during the COVID 19 Pandemic.[41]
