Career[]

On 16 November 2014, Beg announced his support to Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, patron of the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party . He also decided to withdraw his candidature for 2014 Assembly elections from Anantnag constituency and instead campaign for Sayeed.[1] In the 2009 election he was elected to the 15th Lok Sabha from the Anantnag Lok Sabha constituency of Jammu & Kashmir.[2][3][4] On 16 November, Mehboob Beg switched to PDP saying that he would campaign ‘door-to-door’ for PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed during the forthcoming assembly polls in J&K.[5]
