Mitsuboshi Colors (三ツ星カラーズ, Mitsuboshi Karāzu, lit. "Three Star Colors") is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Katsuwo. The manga has been serialized in ASCII Media Works' Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh magazine since 2014. An anime television series adaptation directed by Tomoyuki Kawamura and produced by Silver Link[1] aired between January and March 2018.[2]
Premise[]
Set in Ueno, the series follows three elementary school girls, Yui, Sat-chan, and Kotoha, who together form an organization known as "Colors". Together, they perform various deeds and errands to protect the peace in their town.

- Colors' designated leader, who is very shy. Her "signature attack" is "Trigonometric functions."
- Saki Kise (Sat-chan) (黄瀬 沙希 (さっちゃん), Kise Saki)
- Voiced by: Marika Kouno[1] (Japanese); Monica Rial (English)[3]
- An energetic girl who comes up with crazy ideas. Her catchphrase is "Extra Virgin Oil".
- Kotoha Aoyama (青山 琴葉, Aoyama Kotoha)
- Voiced by: Natsumi Hioka[1] (Japanese); Brittney Karbowski (English)[3]
- A relaxed girl who constantly plays video games, despite not being very good at them. Yui often exploits this fact to tease Kotoha. She has sadistic tendencies.
- Saito (斎藤, Saitō)
- Voiced by: Atsushi Tamaru[4] (Japanese); Blake Weir (English)[3]
- A policeman who watches over the city and constantly comes at odds with the Colors.
- Daigoro Kujiraoka (鯨岡 大吾郎, Kujiraoka Daigorō)
- Voiced by: Tessho Genda[4] (Japanese); Mark X. Laskowski (English)[3]
- An old man who runs the Whale Factory general store and is nicknamed "Pops" (おやじ, Oyaji) by the Colors. He comes up with various devices for the Colors to play with and is always seen wearing a different pair of novelty sunglasses.
- Saori Kise (黄瀬 沙織, Kise Saori)
- Voiced by: Kaori Nazuka[4] (Japanese); Patricia Duran (English)[3]
- Sat-chan's mother who runs a fruit store.
- Nonoka Sasaki (笹木 ののか, Sasaki Nonoka)
- Voiced by: Ayaka Asai[4] (Japanese); Eileen Montgomery (English)[3]
- A high school girl, who is nicknamed "Nono".
- Momoka Sasaki (笹木 ももか, Sasaki Momoka)
- Voiced by: Hisako Tōjō[4] (Japanese); Kara Edwards (English)[3]
- Nonoka's older sister, who is nicknamed "Moka".
- Subaru (すばる, Subaru)
- Voiced by: Manami Numakura[5] (Japanese); Kira Vincent-Davis[3] (English)
- Nonoka's classmate who has a lot of part-time jobs. Nonoka often jokingly tells the Colors that her friend might repeat a year in high school because of that.

Manga[]
The original manga series written by Katsuwo began serialization in ASCII Media Works' Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh magazine in 2014.[6] Seven tankōbon volumes have been released as of October 26, 2019.[7] The series finished after 72 chapters, ending in the August 2020 issue of Dengeki Daioh which released in June 2020.[8]
Anime[]
An anime adaptation was announced at the Dengeki Comic Festival 2017 on March 12, 2017,[1] which was later confirmed to be a television series on July 27, 2017. The anime series is being directed by Tomoyuki Kawamura and produced by Silver Link, with series composition by Shogo Yasukawa and character design by Takumi Yokota. The 12-episode series aired in Japan between January 7 and March 25, 2018.[2][9] The opening and ending themes respectively are "Colors Power ni Omakasero!" (カラーズぱわーにおまかせろ！, Leave it to Colors' Power!) and "Miracle Colors☆Honjitsu Mo Ijō Nashi! (ミラクルカラーズ☆本日も異常ナシ！, Miracle Colors☆No Abnormalities Today Either!), both performed by Colors☆Slash (Yūki Takada, Marika Kouno, and Natsumi Hioka).[10] Sentai Filmworks licensed the series in North America and streamed it on Hidive.[11]

| Yui, Sat-chan, and Kotoha together form the Colors, a group dedicated to protecting peace in their town. Learning about a panda-colored cat causing trouble in town from the resident policeman Saito, the Colors decide to try and catch it. After coming across a vital clue, the girls find the cat in their hideout and agree to look after it, naming it Colonel Monochrome. Later, the girls buy themselves a supposed rocket launcher which they aim to blow up Saito with, before having a try at unlocking a safe. | |||

| While Yui searches for them in a game of hide-and-seek, Sat-chan and Kotoha sneak off to gather some Road Passes for Kotoha's game, ending up all the way in Akihabara. Later, the Colors come across some closed off alleyways, becoming curious as to why they are actually closed off, eventually discovering they were covered in wet paint. Afterwards, the girls consult high schooler Nonoka about how to keep the pond clean, leading to believe that humanity must be destroyed to keep it clean. | |||
