Mizri Ghar

Mizri Ghar at 3,111 metres (10,207 ft) is the third highest mountain in the Sulaiman Mountains of Western Pakistan. The only peaks higher are (Kaisargarh) at 3,444 metres (11,299 ft) and Takht-i-Sulaiman at 3,378 metres (11,083 ft). Mizri Ghar is located in Sub-Tehsil of District Musakhail, Balochistan. In summer, Mizri Ghar receives high amount of rainfall while in winter season it receive considerable amount of snowfall, some time 4 to 5 ft. Its climate is very cool in summer even its temperature is comparable to Naran, Kaghan, and Murree. This climate uniqueness of Mizri Ghar make it one of the coldest tourist point in Baluchistan and make it attractable for the tourists of the adjoining areas such as Zhob, Loralai, D I Khan, DG Khan, and even Multan.

Greenery and Wildlife[]

Mizri Ghar and the surrounding peaks, are predominantly covered with vegetation. The vegetation includes Chilgoza Pine, Wild Olive and other shrubs and grasses. It has green lush valleys on its top. The top area is about 30 km long and 2 to 3 km wide. Chilghoza Pine is one of the source of livelihood of locals in .

A few decades ago, Mizri Ghar was full of wildlife such as Suleman Markhor, Common leopard, fox, wolf, Asiatic steppe wild cat, and Hyaena. There were herd of Suleman Markhor in these mountains but due to poaching, these animals are depleting very quickly nowadays.

The local social activists have repeatedly requested the Government and international organizations working for wildlife to help in saving these animals from extinction. They have also requested to declare the top of the Mizri Ghar as "Wild Sanctuary or National Park for Wildlife". This will help in proving a safe environment to these animals which will results in growing the number of these wildlife. When the number of these Markhor is increased, then Trophy Hunting may be started as that in Gilgit Baltistan. This will attract local and international tourism and will boost the local economy.

Tourism[]

Mizri Ghar remained hidden from tourists for a long time due to unavailability of proper road. A few tourists from Taunsa and Dera Ghazi Khan went to the top of Mizri Ghar in 2011.

From 2020 groups of tourists have started visiting the Mizri Ghar area. A famous tourist and vlogger Saifullah Khan Marwat visited Mizri Ghar in summer season and have made a detailed Vlog[2] on the area. The vlog is in two parts. The vlog have discussed the historical importance of the area, the native people, climate, flora and fauna, terrain, culture, and easiest route to Mizri Ghar from northern site of Pakistan.

Since then many tourist groups from adjoining areas have visited the Mizri Ghar and enjoyed the its pleasant weather and greenery of the area. Beside the Mizri Ghar the people are now also visiting the western side of Mizri Ghar called Zimri Palaseen. Zimri Palaseen is also a beautiful valley full of olive jungles, clean crystal springs and water falls. The locals are very hospitable people. They are accepting the tourist with open hearts. They are happy with the increase in tourism in the area.

Accessibility[]

Mizri Ghar Top can be accessed by two routes. one from west side and other from east side.

A) The western route is through N-50 (Zhob-DI Khan Road-CPEC Western Route). This route is a good option for tourists coming from Northern side of Pakistan and Zhob Area. A local road offtakes from N-50 near Dhana Sar to Shadi Neka (A tomb of a saint). From Shadi Neka there are two routes to the peak of Mizri Ghar.

  • One is shortest and has very steep slope. It directly goes up to the peak. Only expert climbers can climb on this route and it takes 2 to 3 hours to reach the peak.
  • The other route is long but of less steep slope. It takes 4 to 5 hours to reach the peak.

B) The eastern route is from . It is the shortest route for the tourist coming from Punjab and Sindh provinces. The tourists can choose Taunsa-Vehowa-Zimri Palaseen route or Mughalkot-Zimri Palaseen Route for Zimri Palaseen. It is also an easy route. There are plenty of population in this route. These population points provide a rest place and food points for tourists. Tourists with the help of local guide can easily go to the top of Mizri Gahr.

Note: It is compulsory to hire a local guide while visiting Mizri Ghar for smooth and comfortable journey. Local guide is necessary for both of the routes. The local guide not only help in travel guidance but also help in getting a comfort accommodation and food.
