Moses Okot Jr

Moses Okot Jr is a Ugandan lawyer and politician of the opposition FDC party.[1] He was elected to the Ugandan Parliament to represent Kioga District in the 2021 general elections.[2]

Life and career[]

Okot Jr also known as Okot Bitek is a lawyer with a law firm Oloya & Company Advocates in Gulu town. He was shot on the leg by a Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) soldier while holding a mobilisation rally for People Power,[3] a pressure group in Amolatar District on the allegation that he attempted to escape arrest in 2019.[4] In 2018, he was arrested and detained for allegedly forging land titles in Lakang in Amuru district and receiving 103 million shillings of government compensating belong to certain John Oneka and James Olanya for giving up their lands for building of Madhavani group of companies.[5][6]

He was elected to the Kioga District seat in the 11th Ugandan Parliament in the 2021 general elections.[2]
