Lisa Mumbi Macharia is a Kenyan performing spoken-word poet and writer. Mumbi began Spoken Word poetry in 2014.

Career[]

Mumbi began Spoken Word poetry in 2014 when she first performed at Kwani? Open Mic, and subsequently at PAL (Poetry After Lunch) at the Kenya Cultural Center. In 2016, Mumbi competed in Slam Africa, and came in at first runners up in the Grand Slam.

In November 2017, Mumbi was Kwani? Open Mic's featured artist of the month. She has been a guest at various media stations in Kenya, most notably KTN Life&Style, NTV on The Trend, Living with Ess[1] and Citizen TV 10 over 10.[2]

In 2018, Mumbi was one of the curators and the host for a range of poetry events in Nairobi, namely Mindful: Mind full, Poets vs Rappers, and Poets Linkup.

In 2019, Mumbi was a featured artist on Churchill Show, one of the most popular TV shows on Kenyan TV at the time, for several episodes.
