Cécile Bloch
Died5 May 1986

Cécile Bloch was an 11 year old French girl from Fontainebleau, France who was murdered by an unknown man.[1][2] DNA found at the scene linked the murder to two other murders and six rapes.[3][4]

Murder[]

Shortly after noon on 5 May 1986, Cécile's mother, Suzanne, called the family's home to make sure that Cécile made it home for lunch. Suzanne made a call to Cécile's school after she didn't answer the phone. The school informed the mother that Cécile did not show up for school that day. Suzanne then told her husband Jean-Pierre of this and the two alerted the guard at their building and began searching for their daughter.[5]

Cécile's body was found under a piece of old carpet in the apartment's third basement.[5]

Investigation[]

The criminal brigade reported to the crime scene, where they found that Cécile was stabbed in the chest and strangled.[6] The partially naked body of her and the semen collected on her suggested, to officers, that she was raped.[5]

DNA portraits[]

Police, using DNA and information from witnesses, created a facial composite of the serial killer believed to have killed Cécile in 1986.[4]
