Mwangi Kiunjuri

Kiunjuri Festus K Mwangi (born April 29, 1969) is a Kenyan politician. He was born in kenju village in kangema constituency, muranga county. He has held various political and government positions with his most recent role being the CS agriculture.A section of the mt kenya region believe he Is among, if not , uhuru's successor as the region's leader and spokesperson.

Political life[]

Kiunjuri has served as an elected Member of Parliament and has also served in the Kenyan cabinet in various capacities. His last appointment was as Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Irrigation, a position he was appointed to by H.E President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2018 and relieved on 14 January 2020 n. He belonged to the Party of National Unity and was elected to represent the Laikipia East Constituency in the National Assembly of Kenya in the 2007 Kenyan parliamentary election up to 2013.[1]

Education and Career[]

Mwangi Kiunjuri graduated from Moi University with a Bachelor of Education (Arts) degree in 1994. He was elected to the parliament in 1997, then representing the Democratic Party. He retained his seat in the 2002 elections. He has also been the assistant minister of Water and Irrigation and the assistant minister for energy. He became the cabinet secretary for Devolution and Planning in 2015 replacing Anne Waiguru who resigned on corruption grounds. When the Jubilee government retained power in the October 26th, 2017 general elections, Mwangi Kiunjuri was appointed the Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture.[2]
