myG is an Indian consumer electronics retailer based in Kerala. Originally founded as 3G Mobile World in 2006, the company was rebranded under its current name in 2016.[6] According to Madhyamam, myG is the seventh-largest specialty retailer in the Indian consumer electronics retail industry,[1] generating around ₹500 crore in total revenue.[5] As of September 2019, the company sells 20% of the total number of mobile phones sold in Kerala.[6]

History[]

The company was founded as 3G Mobile World in 2006. The first location that opened in Kozhikode was the first multi-brand mobile showroom in Kerala.[1] Its success enabled six other stores to be opened in the district, one each year starting from 2007. The company went on to open multiple stores in several districts in Kerala, including Thrissur, Palakkad, Ernakulam, and Thiruvananthapuram.[7]

As of October 2020, the company owns 80 stores in Kerala,[3] making it "the biggest digital showroom network in South India."[8] myG opened India's biggest digital showroom at Pottammal in Kozhikode in August 2019.[9] The company also opened its own online shopping marketplace in the same month.[10] myG sells 20% of the mobile phones sold in the state, with around 40 thousand units sold through its outlets monthly.[6] As of August 2020, Mohanlal serves as its brand ambassador.[11]
