Natsuiro Matsuri (夏色 まつり)[2] is a Japanese virtual YouTuber (VTuber)[3] affiliated with Hololive Production.[2] She is part of Hololive (Japan) 1st Generation along side Akai Haato, Yozora Mel, Shirakami Fubuki and Aki Rosenthal. Matsuri debuted as a VTuber on June 1, 2018, and has since amassed over 1 million subscribers on YouTube.

Overview[]

From May 2 to 13, 2018, Cover, the management company of Hololive, held a VTuber audition to look for individuals who have experience in live streaming and video uploading and want to challenge themselves as VTubers.[4] The character designs and name of the five open spots that would later debut as Generation 1 were made public at the start of the audition.[4] The design of Natsuiro Matsuri was llustrated by artist Haruki Minamura,[5] and a 3D model by Pompu-chou was created later on.[6]

Natsuiro Matsuri made her Twitter debut on May 31 and streamed her YouTube debut on June 1.[7][8]

Activity[]

Matsuri started her livestreaming activities in June 2018. Her livestreams mainly consist of her chatting, playing games or singing. She is skilled at singing and sometimes shows this off in her streams.[9]

On August 27, 2019, she reached 100,000 YouTube subscribers.[10]

Self proclaimed as Hololive's seiso representative, she often makes vulgar jokes and remarks.[11] For this reason VTubers belonging to Hololive often make the evaluation "As long as it's not worse than what Matsuri does it's ok". "Borderline" is also sometimes called "Matsuri line".[9]

On June 20, 2020, her first original song「君と眺める夏の花」(kimi to nagameru natsu no hana) was released.[12]

On July 2020, it was announced that Matsuri would be made into a Nendoroid figure.[13]
