Nicolas Makelberge

Nicolas Makelberge is a Swedish designer and artist currently based in Prague, Czech Republic where he runs the creative interior design studio Médecine Interiors[1] with his wife. Nicolas started his career as a digital designer in New York and Silicon Valley in the early 2000s.

During his early years Nicolas studied painting in Lund, Sweden under the tutelage of Colin Fraser, considered one of the foremost egg-tempera painters in the world.

During his college years in the US, he studied design under RISD professor, Richard Gann, in Providence, Rhode Island.

His artworks are represented in private collections in Sweden, USA, Germany and Czech Republic, and featured in interior design magazines such as Harpers Bazar, Elle Decoration and Dolce Vita in Czech Republic.

As a music composer Nicolas has been nominated for various music awards in his native Sweden including the national radio awards for the 2006 album "Dying in Africa", a collaboration with Johan Tuvesson from Swedish pop duo Karl x Johan. His music has been featured in numerous national and international publications including by The Guardian in the UK, and The Fader magazine in the US.

In 2019 Swedish music magazine referred to the Confessions EP as "instrumental, electronic music created with hardware and a lot of heart".[3]

In 2014, The Guardian listed the single "Dying in Africa" (a collaboration with Johan Tuvesson form ) as one of out of Scandinavia.[4]

In 2013 NY lifestyle magazine Fader referred to Nicolas Makelberge as "Probably the planet's most underrated producer".[5]

In 2011, the follow-up record to Dying in Africa, , mostly an instrumental album was once again nominated at independent music makers awards, in Sweden.[6]

In 2006, Makelberge's album was nominated for the at Swedish national radio awards[7] and in the category of pop music.[8]
