Night Attack is the fifth album by Australian band The Angels, it was released in 1981. It had its domestic release under their own name by Liberation Music. The album peaked at #11 on the National albums chart.[1] For the 1982 American release of Night Attack by Epic Records, they used the band name Angel City.

In June 2002, Shock Records issued The Complete Sessions 1980 - 1983. The 4-CD box set included remasters of Dark Room (9 bonus tracks), Night Attack (9 bonus tracks), Watch The Red (5 bonus tracks) and The Blow (2-CD set). In June 2006, Liberation Music re-issued Night Attack from The Complete Sessions 1980 - 1983. The album peaked at number 13 on the ARIA Charts and it also charted at number 14 on the Recorded Music NZ.[2][3]

Background[]

The Angels had signed an international contract with CBS Records and released Face to Face in March 1980, on the Epic label. The band named itself Angel City, for international releases, to avoid legal problems with the Casablanca Records' act Angel. Dark Room was released in June 1980, with the international version having different tracks. In March 1981, drummer Graham Bidstrup left the band and was replaced by New Zealander Brent Eccles. The Never so Live EP, was issued in October, and the new single "Fashion and Fame" followed. In November 1981 Night Attack, which also included "Fashion and Fame", produced by Ed Thacker, John Brewster and Rick Brewster, was released, But Radio preferred the live version of "Fashion and Fame" from "Never so Live" and continued to play that version which affected sales of the "Night Attack" album.

The band's third international album, Night Attack included a remixed version of "Back On You", previously only available on the flipside of the "Into The Heat" single. Early in 1982, it became apparent Chris Bailey would be unable to tour with the band in the US; American Jim Hilbun was recruited as his replacement.

The album artwork was done by Helen (Nay) Jackson, Jana Hartig and Peach with help from Doc Neeson himself, at CBS Records Australia, 1981.
