Nnenna Nwakanma is a Nigerian FOSS activist, community organizer, development adviser . She worked for the United Nations for 15 years and she was the Interim Policy Director for the World Wide Web Foundation

Nwakanma worked with the United Nations for 15 years.[1]

She is the co-founder of the which she co-chairs.[citation needed] She is a former member of the board of the Open Source Initiative.[2] She co-founded , and the [3] which she serves on[when?].[4] She is also a Vice President of the Digital solidarity fund.[citation needed] Previously, she served as the Information Officer for Africa of the .

Nwakanma has spoken at conferences on Open Source and Free Software and other topics including O'Reilly's OSCON, the (FOSDEM),[5] Yale University's ,[6] the Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT,[7] the Open World Forum,[8] and The Internet Governance Forum.[9]

As of 2019, she was the interim Policy Director for the World Wide Web Foundation[1] where she supports work on the Alliance for Affordable Internet[10] and the Web We Want.[11]

Fluent in English, French and a handful of African languages, based in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire,[when?] having lived in at least 5 different African countries.[1]
