Norðurturninn

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Norðurturninn (Icelandic pronunciation: [ˈnɔrðʏrˌtʰʏ(r)tnɪn], "the north tower"), when completed, will be an office and retail building in Iceland. It is currently under construction. Norðurturninn is located in downtown Kópavogur, next to Smáratorg Tower. It is connected to the shopping mall Smáralind, of which it is also a part. Norðurturninn was purported to comprise 15 floors with a height of 62 metres (205 ft) at its completion.[1] However, it is proposed in reality to finish at 110 metres in height with an actual designation of 28 floors. If this should be so, Norðurturninn shall surpass Iceland's current tallest building, Smáratorg Tower. Construction of the tower has been on hold since the 2008–2011 Icelandic financial crisis.

Resumption of construction was reported on 1 April 2015.[2]
