Oakes Fegley (/ˌoʊˈks ˈfɛˌɡliː/;[1] born November 11, 2004)[2] is an American actor. He is best known for his supporting roles as Paul Swann in Fort Bliss (2014), as Pete in Pete's Dragon (2016), and as young Theo Decker in the adaptation of The Goldfinch (2019), opposite Ansel Elgort.
Life and career[]
In 2014, Fegley made his acting debut with the drama film Fort Bliss, playing Paul Swann along with Michelle Monaghan and Ron Livingston.[3][4] The film was directed by Claudia Myers, and had premiered in 2014.[4] He played the Young Judd Altman, played as an adult by Jason Bateman, in the comedy-drama film This Is Where I Leave You, directed by Shawn Levy and released on September 19, 2014 by Warner Bros. Pictures.[3][5] Later he appeared as Young Elias "Eli" Thompson in the fifth season of the HBO series Boardwalk Empire.[3] He also appeared in CBS' Person of Interest as Gabriel Hayward.[6]
Fegley played the lead role of Pete in Walt Disney Pictures' fantasy comedy-drama film Pete's Dragon, opposite Oona Laurence, Bryce Dallas Howard and Robert Redford.[3] The film was directed by David Lowery and released on August 12, 2016.[7]
It was announced in May 2017 that Fegley would topline TWC-Dimension's comedy film The War with Grandpa with Robert De Niro.[8]
