October Hamlyn-Wright (born May 1983) is a British musician and recording artist and competitive adaptive surfer. Known simply by her first name, October was born in Surrey, England and began writing songs at the age of six.[citation needed] Her recording career began as the founder of Euphoria, a teenage all-girl school pop band in which she self taught and played many instruments including the drums and electric guitar.[citation needed] She went on to start singing her own songs and playing the acoustic guitar as a solo artist in her early twenties.

October has toured internationally, including the likes of Australasia and Europe.[citation needed] Her music became closely linked with the surf scene through playing festivals such as Boardmasters, the Red Bull series and being featured in publications such as SurfGirl magazine.[1]

October has played the likes of the Isle Of Wight and Glastonbury Festivals many times,[2] performed various live BBC sessions around the UK and written music for film, including "Free Your Soul" which features in the award-winning documentary, Lost and Found (Corduroy Films, 2011).[3] The song was subsequently released as her debut single in August 2013, followed by the international release of her debut album, "Some of the Things" in March 2014.[4] Her last release was a self-titled acoustic EP.[5]

October has spent large parts of her life in hospital fighting serious systemic auto-immune disease, including Crohn’s disease, Lupus, Arthritis and Ankylosing Spondylitis, which has seen her become a keen advocate and ambassador for surf therapy,[6] The Wave Project and adaptive surfing.
