One Asia Foundation

One Asia Foundation (OAF) is a nonprofit organization founded on December 21, 2009. One Asia Foundation aims to contribute to the establishment of Asian Community in the future. To this purpose, the Foundation carries out and supports various activities which will stimulate a common sense of values among Asian people and beyond. These involve economic, educational, cultural exchanges that can help people across Asia and the world deepen their mutual understanding. The target of OAF activities is to create a rich, peaceful and secure Asian Community where people can live together each holding their own dreams and hopes, which will result in global peace and security.

OAF vision[]

The One Asia is inspired by the European Union (EU), which pursues a course of coexistence assuming and respecting cultural diversity among member nations. Its plan of action can be a model of other unification movements in the 21st century for those who are going to live in a multiethnic and multicultural society.

Until now, the Foundation, as an incorporated nonprofit organization, has built up various friendly cooperative activities including cross-border good-will meetings. OAF seeks to help formation of a community of over 40 countries and more than 4.4 billion people, over half of the population of the world, who will live in Asia in the near future. Such a community will include Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia and Central Asia. As a newly formed juridical foundation, the One Asia Foundation will continue similar but more energetic activities to expand a network of like-minded people in an attempt to attain its goal.

Today, in politics, economics, culture and various other fields, Asia is one of the prominent regions in the world spotlight. While the societies of Asia share significant historical and social characteristics and affinities, they are also diverse and have many different aspects. It cannot be denied that, in its modern and contemporary history, Asia has not yet succeeded in transcending national borders.

Principles of Action[]

1. To financially support organizations and groups which share the goal with OAF of contributing to the formation of Asian Community in the near future.
2. To financially support colleges, including their teaching staff, in Asian countries for the project of establishing a department, a course of study or a subject relating to the formation of Asian community in the near future.
3. To financially support institutions and scholars specialized in research work concerning taxation, financial or monetary systems, or some other fields, which will be useful for the formation of Asian Community in the future.
4. To establish a scholarship for students enrolled in the college departments or courses, and who are studying subjects relationg to the formation of Asian community in the near future.
5. To support academic, cultural and sports exchanges in order to promote the formation of Asian Community in the future.
6. To carry out any other projects necessary to achieve the aim of the Foundation.

The OAF has been promoting courses and activities in universities and higher education institutions in Asia and in other parts of the world.^[1]

One Asia Foundation in Europe[]

In Europe, the following programs have been opened: In 2017, University College Cork and Complutense University of Madrid organized courses in Asian studies taught by professors of different nationalities who collaborate with the foundation.^[2][3]
