OrangeHRM Inc. is a technology company based in Secaucus, New Jersey, providing human resource management systems to clients worldwide. OrangeHRM was founded by Sujee Saparamadu in 2005 and offers two products, namely the OrangeHRM Starter and Advanced.

The Starter version is a free and open-source software released under the GNU General Public License while the advanced version is a paid offering for SMEs and large scale enterprises.

History[]

Founder and CEO of OrangeHRM Sujee Saparamadu started the company in 2005 with four employees. OrangeHRM 1.0 was a free and open-source version released to SourceForge in March 2006. The OrangeHRM 1.0 consisted of features such as employee information management, employee self-service, and reporting. In December 2008, OrangeHRM was selected as the 'Project of the Month' and in 2009 OrangeHRM was ranked as the fifth-best application in the enterprise projects category on SourceForge. As of December 2021, the OrangeHRM Starter is used by over 5 million users around the world.

Over the years, OrangeHRM evolved into a more comprehensive HR solution provider. OrangeHRM also won the BOSSIE award for the best open source enterprise applications in 2008, 2012, 2013 & 2015.

In 2010, OrangeHRM also received a Series A investment from principal investors Larry Stefonic and David Axmark who also hold advisory board and Director Board roles at OrangeHRM respectively. David Axmark is also a co-founder of MySQL AB and a developer of the free database server, MySQL.

Namely, the OrangeHRM 'Starter' which is a free & open-source HR management software and the OrangeHRM 'Advanced' which is a fully-fledged HR management software for SMEs and large scale enterprises.
