Pachycara crassiceps is a species of fish in the family Zoarcidae (eelpouts).[3][4][5]

Description[]

Pachycara crassiceps is black or dark chocolate brown in colour and up to 54 cm (1.77 ft) in length,[6] with 111–118 vertebrae. It has a small, thick head, as indicated by the specific name crassiceps ("thick, solid, dense head").[7]

Habitat[]

Pachycara crassiceps lives in the eastern Atlantic Ocean and off Alaska.[8][9][10] It is bathydemersal,[11] living at depths of 900–2,191 m (2,953–7,188 ft).[12]

behaviour[]

Pachycara crassiceps eats sipunculid worms and polychaetes.[13] It is parasitised by Echinorhynchus brayi worms.[14]
