Pagsibol (lit.'germination' or 'growth') is the debut extended play by Filipino boy band SB19 released on July 22, 2021 through Sony Music nearly a year after their debut album Get in the Zone (2020). The record sees the band members contributing to all aspects with mainly Pablo for songwriting and production.

Release and promotion[]

SB19 has teased the release of their debut EP ahead of their virtual concert Back in the Zone on August 1, 2021. On June 30, the group posted a poster featuring the record’s title and their logo.[1][2] A week after, the release date has been revealed accompanied with a pre-save link. A day after, they announced a postponement of their concert.[3] A release scheduler was posted on July 14, 2021.[4] The track list was shown a day after that featured the two released singles "What? and "MAPA", promotional single "Ikako", and three more songs.[5] Concept photos were dropped for 6 days and the highlight medley was released a day before the release. Hours before the release, SB19 guested in Rolling Stone's Twitch stream and iHeartRadio to promote the extended play.[6][7] Pagsibol was released on streaming and digital platforms on July 22, 2021.[8] A lyric video for "Bazinga" was then uploaded on YouTube on the same day.[9]

The group has partnered with Spotify Philippines with a campaign that "showcases Pinoy pride and tells the story of SB19’s latest EP through audio and visual art". They collaborated with six Filipino visual artists to design jeepneys inspired by the six tracks on Pagsibol.[10][11] Spotify’s Head of Music for Asia Kossy Ng quoted that "It’s been wonderful to be a part of SB19’s journey; watching their growth from RADAR artists to today reaching listeners all over the world. We are thrilled to get behind the launch of Pagsibol through this campaign and allowing fans, not only in the Philippines, but all over the world to experience their music."[12]
