The World's Online Festival (WOLF) is a community-oriented messaging and gaming app for iOS and Android.[3][4] The platform allows users to chat, entertain, and perform on a Stage—live microphone slots for up to 5 people, form and join large groups based on common interests, send instant messages and drop images and voice recordings into conversations. The application has 80 million accounts worldwide.[5][6] WOLF Headquartered in London with branch office locations in Newcastle and London, UK, and Amman, Jordan.[5] In 2014, the company had revenues of $14 million.[7] The Sunday Times Tech Track 100 2015 ranks Palringo 7th out of 100 companies.[8]

Palringo was developed by Martin Rosinski in 2006. In August 2006, Northstar Ventures invested £650,000.[3][5]

  • In 2010, Palringo launched an enterprise version of the app, offering companies private group communication networks.
  • In August 2012, Palringo began a shift away from the B2B market towards the consumer community. The business model entails selling virtual products such decorative profile stickers, Bots and functional utilities.[9][10][11]
  • In May 2014, Palringo acquired Swedish games developer Free Lunch Design (FLD), who previously worked with Disney, Paramount and Marvel.[12]
  • In September 2014, the company reiterated its strategy on combining games and instant messaging by focusing on adding gaming capabilities.[6]
  • In May 2015, Palringo acquired Finnish chat games developer Tribe Studios, which developed Dramagame technology, multiplayer role-playing games development tools.[13]
  • In late 2019, Palringo introduces Stages, a platform within its app that allowed up to five users to broadcast live audio within their chat group.[14]
  • In February, 2020, Palringo officially re-branded to The World's Online Festival (WOLF).[15]

Charity[]

In 2013, the company launched a charitable initiative aimed at their users in the Gulf region during the month of Ramadan, which enabled users to donate Palringo credits through a special charity Bot. Palringo users raised over US$230,000 for Charity Right and Islamic Relief.[4] During Ramadan in 2015, Palringo raised more than $300,000 to be split between Action Against Hunger and Islamic Relief Worldwide.[16]
