Panwar Dynasty were the ruler of Garhwal Kingdom (present day: Uttarakhand).

Panwar Dynasty ruled Garhwal from 9th century to 19th century independently.

Until Kingdom of Nepal attacked Kumaon Kingdom in 1791 and Garhwal in 1804. With help of British troops Garhwal and Kumaon got independence from Nepal. Unable to pay the military cost of British India, the then-Garhwali King gave part of his territory to British India and ruled till 1949. The last king of Garhwal, Manabendra Shah decided to join India. Garhwal and Kumaon became part of India as then-state of Uttar Pradesh which is now Uttarakhand.
