Parihar

Parihar or Pratihar is an Indian surname,[1][2] belonging to Rajput Kshatriya clan[3] under the Caste system in India These people are mainly in India Rajasthan, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Gujarat, Delhi, Haryana, Bihar, Punjab, etc.

According to Prithviraj Raso, Parihar, Pratihara or Padihar Agnivanshi Kshatriya Rajput. Parihars claims to be the descendants of Lakshman, brother of epic hero Rama in the epic story ramayana. They are also called , because the origin of the Parihars Rajasthan is believed to be from a Havan Kund (fire pit) in Mount Abu situated on the highest peak of the Aravalli Range of the state.[citation needed]. Like most other followers of caste system, they are an endogamous group who will not marry outside their group.[4]
