Paul J. Tikalsky

Paul J. Tikalsky (born December 30, 1960) is an American engineer, researcher, and educator.

Early life and education[]

Tikalsky was born in Denmark, Wisconsin and moved to New Holstein, Wisconsin, where he graduated from New Holstein High School. He received his B.S. in civil and environmental engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and both his M.S. and his Ph.D. in structural engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.

Career[]

He has been the dean of the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology at Oklahoma State University since 2012.[1] Tikalsky holds the Donald and Cathey Humphreys Chair of Engineering and has a dual appointment as professor of civil engineering and materials science and engineering. Prior to his tenure at Oklahoma State, he was the Chair of the Department of Civil and Environmental (and nuclear) Engineering at the University of Utah. He also spent 11 years at Penn State University, where he was the founding director of the CITEL laboratory and deputy Director of the Larson Transportation Institute.

Honors[]

Tikalsky is an elected foreign member of the Czech National Academy of Engineering. He is a fellow of the American Concrete Institute, a fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers, and received the Joe W. Kelly Award from the American Concrete Institute.[2] He was twice named the State of Utah's Engineering Educator of the year.
