Pavunu Pavunuthan is a 1991 Indian Tamil-language drama film written and directed by K. Bhagyaraj. He also stars and composed the music. The film was released on 14 April 1991.[1] It was dubbed into Telugu as Chilipi Sipayi and released on 24 January 1992.[2]

Plot[]

The story start with flashback of chinnu(bagyaraj) in train to his co passenger about his life.Chinnu is a commando captain who visits a village for vacation. He tries to love a girl, pavunu.She rejects his offer as she is waiting for her uncle to marry,who left the village around 20 years ago, at the age of 7,as his father beated for his childish mischief activities. Pavunu' maternal uncle(Arumuga Gounder) is also eagerly waiting for his eloped son to return home.One day a letter for arumuga gounder was sent by his son, which reveals that he will come back in 10 days and he was married. On hearing the news about marriage,Pavunu tried to suicide.Meanwhile chinnu reveals her that he was his uncle and told that he pranked for fun as a stranger these days.chinnu planned for his sister,on that day chinnu's sister insisted pavunu to marry chinnu now itself as military person may leave for duty on a sudden call anytime.chinnu resisted for the sudden plan,but the villagers compelled him to marry.Few minutes before marriage an information from an army personnel told arumuga gounder that his son was died.Chinnu appeared as fraud among all.Later it was understood by family and village persons that he tried to do goodness by not disappointing the family members,as arumuga gounder family is in poor economy and eagerly waiting for his son's return and pavunu is also sensitive about her uncle to marry.Actualy chinnu told his sister that he is not his real brother and only to safeguard pavunu'suicide he lied.chinnu asked her to reveal this issue in a proper way to pavunu.but she rejected it and convinced chinnu to keep secret between us as pavunu's life will be in vain if revealed.After some time things get normal and chinnu tries to convince pavunu.President of the village arranged a maariage invitation for pavunu and chinnu secretly to make a bad image for chinu,to induce a view that chinnu is compelling pavunu to marry.president and chinnu already had issues on minor matter.on hearing this, chinnu also taken it as good becoz he knows that even pavunu had idea to marry eventhough she is showing negative attitude.On day before marriage pavunu reveal that she cannot marry him ,even though she had an affair,because she tattooed her uncle name in her breast.on understanding this chinnu left the village on day before marriage.after nearly 10 years chinnu returns village,what happened is the climax.

Reception[]

N. Krishnaswamy of The Indian Express wrote, "The story line keeps you guessing about what is going to come at every turn, and the mix of comedy, sentiment, characterisation and plot development meshes well to create a film of such impact".[4]
