Persia is a town in Cattaraugus County, New York, United States. The population was 2,404 at the 2010 census.[3] It is in the northwest part of the county. The village of Gowanda is partially in the town.

A question frequently asked is "How did Town of Persia get its name?". Newspaper archives and history books do not give a small clue to the origin of the name.[4]
