Peter Goddard (journalist)

Peter Darwin Goddard (born July 13, 1943 in Toronto, Ontario)[1] is a Canadian music journalist.

History[]

Peter Goddard commenced his career as a journalist in 1966, concurrently with studying music at the University of Toronto, from which he obtained Bachelor and Master degrees in music in 1967 and 1971, respectively.[1] From 1966 to 1988, Goddard held positions as the pop music critic for The Globe and Mail, the Toronto Telegram and the Toronto Star.[1] He received the 1973 Juno Award as Music Journalist of The Year.[2]

Goddard has maintained an ongoing association with the Toronto Star, for which he continues to write.[3]

Goddard is the author of a biography of Frank Sinatra and co-author of a biography of Ronnie Hawkins. With photographer Philip Kamin, Goddard has published a number of books documenting the concert tours of notable performers.
