Peter Liepa

Peter Liepa is a software engineer and former video game designer. He was born in Toronto, Canada in 1953.^[1] He is best known as the co-creator, with Chris Gray, of video game classic Boulder Dash, released in 1984.

Liepa originally chose to study physics at university but changed to mathematics. During summer, he took jobs in computer programming. Following graduation, he took a master's degree in Control Theory. The next few years were spent working in software consulting.^[2]

Liepa worked on some of the Boulder Dash sequels but left the world of games because of a lack of enthusiasm for the platforms which had followed the Atari 8-bit computers. He has subsequently been involved in the development of 3D software for design and entertainment, including a position at the company Alias Systems Corporation.^[2] Liepa's job at Alias came to an end when the company was acquired by Autodesk. He has since worked independently.^[3]
