As a high school student, Musñgi served as a DJ for a local pop radio station where a relative is a manager.[5] Following his stint as a radio personality, he was tapped to provide voice as announcer in a commercial and film trailers.[3]

He became known to the wider public when he accidentally sang the nursery rhyme, "Little Peter Rabbit" over the radio which caught the attention of actress and radio personality, Helen Vela. This performance led Musñgi to be dubbed as Peter Rabbit.[3]

Musñgi first joined the ABS-CBN Corporation in 1972, as an announcer for its radio station 101.0 DZYK FM, learning how to play an prepared and approved list of songs as well as did time check and voice overs for the station ID. He was left unemployed after ABS-CBN was shutdown after Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos declared Martial Law in 1972. He later worked for various AM radio stations.[4]

When 1986 People Power Revolution which deposed President Marcos, Musñgi rejoined ABS-CBN. He became the main voiceover of the company's television network since then.[3] From 1988 to 1994, he was station manager of DZMM and DWRR.[1] He is a key person on the media conglomerate's Manila Radio Division and ABS-CBN Sports.[3]

Style[]

Musñgi developed an interest in developing his voice. In his home province back then, there is no television and often listened to the radio. Musñgi said that he initially imitated the voice he hears on the radio before developing his own voice over style. He also read newspapers aloud as part of honing his voice. He has cited Joonee Gamboa as one of his inspirations in developing his voice over talent.[3]
