Peter William Pullicino (born 17 June 1976 in Sydney) is a former professional footballer who last played for Marsaxlokk. He played as a midfielder.

Playing career[]

Hibernians[]

Pullicino moved to Malta to join Hibernians from Fraser Park in 2001. He started in the centre of the midfield for the 2001–02 season, becoming an instant success as Hibernians won the Maltese Premier League title, with Peter making 26 appearances and scoring three goals as Hibernians triumphed.

The 2002–03 season, was Peter's second with Hibernians, and the hope was to emulate the success he achieved in his debut season with the club, however Hibernians only managed a 4th-place finish in the Maltese Premier League, with Pullicino making 19 appearances, but failing to score any goals.

Peter moved onto the 2003–04 as one of the team's top performers. He helped Hibernians to a 3rd-place finish in the Maltese Premier League that season, making 22 appearances, but again failed to score any goals.

For the 2004–05 season, Pullicino again helped Hibernians to a 3rd-place finish in the Maltese Premier League, during the season Peter made 27 appearances and scored two goals.

The 2005–06 season proved to be Peter's last with Hibernians. He was called up to play for the Maltese national team, becoming eligible to play for his adopted nation, after living in the country for four years. On the domestic front, Peter made 21 appearances, but failed to score any goals, as Hibernians recorded a 4th-place finish in the Maltese Premier League. Peter did however add to his silverware collection as Hibernians won the U*Bet FA Trophy, defeating Floriana in the final.

Msida Saint-Joseph[]

After five seasons with Hibernians, Pullicino left the club to join fellow Maltese Premier League side Msida Saint-Joseph for the 2006–07 season, however the stint only lasted half a season, with Peter leaving the club during the January transfer window of 2007. Pullicino made 14 appearances and scored one goal, during his time with Msida Saint-Joseph, with the club eventually finishing in 6th position at the end of the season.

Marsaxlokk[]

Pullicino joined Marsaxlokk from Msida Saint-Joseph for the remainder of the 2006–07 season, he went on to make 10 appearances, failing to score any goals, but he did win his second Maltese Premier League title, as his new club finished as champions by some margin to runners up Sliema Wanderers.

The 2007–08 season was Peter's first full season with Marsaxlokk, however following the previous season's triumph, many of the club's star players moved on to pastures new, the likes of Daniel Bogdanovic, Luke Dimech and Justin Haber to name a few. This left the club short of talent, Pullicino however stuck around and despite the club's loss of players, they still managed to record a very creditable 2nd-place finish in the Maltese Premier League, with Peter making 25 appearances and chipping in with two goals.

Peter went into the 2008–09 season hoping to help Marsaxlokk gain some more silverware, however the club had an extremely disappointing season by their own high standards, and only managed to gain a place in the championship pool by beating Pullicino's old club Msida Saint-Joseph in the final game of the first round. Peter made 22 appearances and scored two goals during the season and despite the club's extremely disappointing start to the season, they managed to finish the season in 4th position in the Maltese Premier League.

For the 2009–10 season, Marsaxlokk were due to play in the Maltese Premier League, however following a guilty verdict on corruption case from the previous season, Marsaxlokk were demoted to the Maltese First Division, Pullicino remained loyal and stayed with the club despite rumored interest from Floriana.
