Peucoteles is a monotypic moth genus in the family Gelechiidae. Its only species, Peucoteles herpestica, is found in Assam, India. Both the genus and species were first described by Edward Meyrick in 1931.[1]
The wingspan is about 9 mm. The forewings are whitish grey, the basal fourth suffused with ferruginous, limited by a transverse series of three small black tufts, the uppermost double. There is a median fascia of ferruginous suffusion, including a black tuft on the fold and the apical fourth is suffusedly sprinkled with darker grey, including a blotch of ferruginous suffusion towards the tornus, preceded by a small black tuft. The hindwings are light blue grey.
