Philemon Malima (born 9 July 1946) is a Namibian politician and diplomat who is the chief of intelligence service of .[1]

Malima has been a member of the Cabinet of Namibia since March 1990 and has served as minister responsible for various ministries since independence.[2][3][4]

Early life and education[]

Malima was born in Omandongo, in Onayena Oshikoto Region. Malima was educated at the Institute of Political Science in the then USSR.[5]

Career[]

He was minister of defence in 1995 and 1997 after serving as a deputy minister of defence from 1990 to 1995. He was a political educator, military officer and diplomat of SWAPO, specifically the representative to the Soviet Union between 1987 and 1989.

He has also served as a member of Namibia National Assembly between 1990 and 2005 and as a minister of environment and tourism between 1997 and 2005.
