Philip Press

Philip Press is an American jewelry designer, known for his platinum jewelry designs and expertise. Press creates Art Deco vintage-style platinum pieces, as well as modern designs and classic traditional collections, using diamonds and gemstones.[1]

Early life and education[]

Press was born in New York in 1965. At age 15, he apprenticed to a European master craftsman and platinumsmith.[citation needed] Press learned Art Deco techniques, which included using dental floss to polish intricate details.[2] He relocated to Los Angeles in 1990 to open his own jewelry design and manufacturing business.[citation needed]

Career[]

In 1991 Press founded Philip Press, Inc. on Beverly Boulevard in West Hollywood, California, and later moved his studio and workshop to the Sunset Strip in 1999.[3] The jeweler and his designs have been featured on the Red carpet at the Academy Awards[4] and in fashion and bridal media.[5][6] In 2011 Press became a diamond and jewelry expert for Fine Living Network[citation needed] and began serving as the jewelry expert for the news program America Now,[7] which is broadcast across the United States on stations owned by Raycom Media.[citation needed]

In 1998 he featured one of the world’s largest selections of platinum rings.[1] His work is worn by Nicolette Sheridan, Tori Spelling, Jennifer Hewitt,[8] Kym Johnson, Demi Lovato and Mariah Carey.[9]

Philanthropy[]

Press has aided the Foundations of the Los Angeles Police Department and Los Angeles Fire Department.[10][11] Press began serving on the board of the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation in 2011.[11]
