Plus TV is a free-to-air terrestrial TV channel. It is the sixth private TV channel established in Cyprus[citation needed]. Its first official broadcast took place on July 28, 2006.

Initially called Axia Channel (period 2005-2006) and Astra TV (2000-2005) by the time of its first official broadcast it was renamed to CNC PLUS TV, with CNC meaning Cyprus New Channel. For the first several months the channel transmitted pilot music programs, especially children's songs. After six months of operation, the channel was officially referred to as PLUS TV through the CNC was not dropped from the logo until August 2007.

In September 2007 the channel changed ownership. This saw rapid improvements in the channel[citation needed]. The station's program was enriched[citation needed] and included more Cypriot productions and partnership with Greek channels Alter Channel and Alpha TV.

At the end of the 2009-2010 season Plus TV occupied the lowest audience share among the nationwide channels, with direct implications for advertising value.
