Priyanka Lalaji, better known as Priyaa Lal is a British Indian actress.^[1] Her first appearance was in the Malayalam film Janakan in 2010, directed by N. R. Sanjeev with Mohanlal and Suresh Gopi, as the lead character Seetha /Anu, Gopi's and Kaveri's daughter. The song Olichirunne was a huge hit, which won the Kerala State Award in 2010. Besides acting, Priyaa is also well known for her sports anchoring and various dancing and singing skills.^[2]

Early life[]

Priyaa Lal was born in Ras al-Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates to a Christian family. Her parents Lalaji and Beena are from Kerala. She has an elder brother Deepak Lalaji. When Priyaa was a young child, her family migrated to the United Kingdom, to Liverpool, England. According to the Liverpool Echo, Priyaa Lal said, "I wanted to learn about how the media works, I wanted a knowledge of the subject since I’m now working in the industry." She went on to study BTEC in Media and Production at Liverpool Arts college. She is also a graduate from the British College of Interior Design.

Priyaa debuted with Janakan in 2011 which was a commercial success. She later did couple of movies in Malayalam including Killadi Raman, and Lord Livingstone 7000 Kandi.^[3]

Priyaa Lal was chosen as the most influencing person of 2011 among UK Malayalees. She was named the British Malayali Person of the year in February 2012 by the British Malayali Online Newspaper. Later she was named in as 100th most influential people among British Malayali in 2020

Priyaa Lal was named as the Public Announcer by the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) team and the Board Of Control For Cricket India (BCCI), for the 2nd Airtel ODI Match between India and England on 15 January 2013 in Kochi. She was noted for her Liverpudlian accent while announcing for each overs of the match. She worked with the match referee Andy Pycroft.

She was then selected to become the MC for the Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) Season 3 2013 opening ceremony at Kochi, where Salman Khan was the guest of honour for the match between Kerala Strikers and Mumbai Heroes. Later on she was given the same cap by the Association as the Public Announcer, on 21 November 2013 for the 1st ODI match after Sachin Tendulkar's retirement, India vs West Indies held in Kochi.

Television career[]

Priyaa Lal made her television debut as the host for a celebrity chat show 'COMEDY SUPER NITE 2' on Flowers TV. The first episode was aired on 6 June 2016.

Priyaa Lal went onto doing Sports anchoring, she hosted for Champions Boats League in 2019. It was the first ever biggest boat league event held after the floods in 2018 and 2019. The event was conducted in different parts of Kerala that promoted Kerala Tourism which was aired on Star Sports. She later on went onto doing anchoring for Indian Super League (ISL) in Star Sports Channel providing interviews during pre-match, half-time and post-match shows.
