"Qemal Stafa" Gymnasium is a pre-university education school, which is located east of the city of Tirana, in the administrative unit No. 10, on Durrës Street, near the "Karl Topia" square. This school is named in honor of its former student Qemal Stafa after he died a martyr in the National Liberation War on May 5, 1942. "Qemal Stafa" Gymnasium was ranked in First Place as the best gymnasium in Tirana on the map of performance for the School Year 2020-2021.

In the years 1947-1948 the school was named "Qemal Stafa" in honor of its former student, praised for his intelligence and talent. For his contribution and values, Qemal Stafa, became the first hero of the country, for our honor and that of the school.

The beginnings of high school

The steps of the development of secondary education in the capital, and throughout the country, began with the opening of the first state gymnasium, in 1925, when the then Prime Minister Ahmet Zogu by decree, ordered the opening of the high school in Tirana. This decision, among other things, would mark the birth of a tradition; a tradition that would reflect the values ​​of an education-loving and patriotic people.

The school, initially opened with a principal, four professors, two teachers and twenty-five students, would rank over the years as the elite school of national education, playing an important role in its progress.

The teachers and students of this gymnasium have made an invaluable contribution as part of Albanian science and culture. They have been prominent people who have made a name for themselves in various fields, thus writing in golden letters the success story of this gymnasium.

Part of the pedagogical staff of this school have been personalities of Albanian art, culture and science such as: People's teacher Mr. Anton Deda school director in 1940-1944, Lasgush Poradeci, Nonda Bulka, Abdurrahim Buza, Skënder Luarasi, Arshi Pipa, Vedat Kokona, Anton Mazreku, Minella Karajani, Mark Gurakuqi, Kostandin Trako, Naun Stralla, Lirak Dodbiba, Skender Anamali, Nexhat Hakiu, etc. Eighteen of them are "Teachers of the People" and twelve are "Merited Teachers".
