Rachel Covey (born June 15, 1998) is an American actress, playwright, and composer. She is known for her roles in the 2005 film Duane Hopwood alongside David Schwimmer and the 2007 Disney movie Enchanted alongside Patrick Dempsey and Amy Adams. For her role in the latter film, she received a nomination for "Young Actress Age Ten or Younger" at the 29th Young Artist Awards. Her first musical, Painting Faye Salvez, joined the New York Musical Festival (NYMF) in July, 2017 [3][4][better source needed] and has been performed at Tuacahn Theatre in Utah [5] . Her other work has been performed at the York Theatre’s New Works Concert, the Chicago Dramatists Guild, the Allen & Gray Musical Festival’s New Voices Concert Series, the Titchfield Festival Theatre’s New Songwriters Concert (UK), and Under the Arch Incubator’s New Work Cabaret, at Capital Repertory Theatre, The Player’s Theatre, and Manhattan Repertory Theatre [6].

In 2005, Covey appeared in the film Duane Hopwood as the daughter of David Schwimmer's character, leading Variety magazine to select Covey and her costar Ramya Pratt for particular praise.[7]

In 2007, she appeared in the Disney movie Enchanted as Morgan Philip, the young daughter of Patrick Dempsey's character.[8] For Covey's performance in the film, she received a nomination for "Young Actress Age Ten or Younger" at the 29th Young Artist Awards, but lost to Bailee Madison from Bridge to Terabithia.[9]

In 2014, Covey joined the cast of the Radio City Spectacular, Heart and Lights, though the production was delayed and subsequently rewritten.[10]

In 2016, Covey filmed an episode of ABC's What Would You Do?, cast as a teenager bullied by her peers.[citation needed]

Painting Faye Salvez, a full-length musical written and scored by Covey, joined the New York Musical Festival (NYMF)'s 2017 Festival.[11] Covey was also listed in Playbill's "11 Women Creatives You Need to Know at NYMF This Year."[12]

Personal life[]

Covey was born on June 15, 1998.[1][2] She recently graduated from The Dalton School alongside her classmates, and is currently a senior at Northwestern University. In 2009, Covey and other celebrities such as Abigail Breslin and Laila Ali attended a benefit for Project Sunshine, a New York City-based charity that holds an annual week of service to help families in hospitals.[13]
