PM2FGZ (90.0 FM, often abbreviated 90 FM), on air name Elshinta News and Talk or Elshinta, is an all-news radio in Jakarta, Indonesia.

History[]

In 1968, the station was started under Soejoso Karsono, a musician. Elshinta starts as an amateur radio named after his daughter Elshinta. At that time, Elshinta Radio plays Hawaiian music. The station's name influenced Karsono's band name, The Elshinta's Hawaiian Seniors. Later in 1976, Elshinta name was dropped from the band's name.[4]

After acquisition by Salim Group, Karsono created Suara Irama Indah (now Jak 101 FM), first commercial FM radio in Indonesia. Later on, Elshinta became music radio with a few news insert, due to limitations of news broadcast pre-1998. Elshinta completely abandoned its music programming in 14 February 2000. Today, Elshinta only broadcasts news and talk programming, except sponsored content and affiliations like NHK World Service.[5]

Before 2011, Elshinta was in the same group with Indosiar. In 2011, Indosiar was acquired by Elang Media Teknologi/Emtek, owner of SCTV.[6] Elshinta was also acquired by Emtek, but separated in 2013, creating new entity "Elshinta Media".
