Rahimpur village, Khagaria

Rahimpur is a village in Khagaria District of Bihar. It is divided in three panchayats, Rahimpur Uttar (Rahimpur North), Rahimpur Madhya (Rahimpur Central) and Rahimpur Dakshin (Rahimpur South).[1][2] The panchayat has several revenue villages among which Durgapur village is a prominent one. It is situated on NH 31 on side and the riverbeds of Ganga, known as diyara on other side.

State of infrastructure[]

The state of essential infrastructure such as health and village road is not good and has been raised in media.[3][4][5][6] The panchayats also are effected by floods annually.[7][8][9]

Transportation[]

The village is well connected as it is located alongside of National Highway 31. Nearest railway station is Umeshnagar railway station in Durgapur village in Madhya Rahimpur Panchayat and the nearest major railway station is Khagaria Railway station. The new Munger rail cum road bridge over Ganga river is also in the vicinity of the panchayats.[10]

Notable People[]

Several notable people were born in Rahimpur such as Umeshwar Prasad Singh, local freedom fighter in Indian Independence movement on whom the Umeshnagar railway station is named, Parliamentarians such as Yogendra Sharma and Ramendra Kumar. Abhayanand, the former DGP of Bihar and educationist is also connected to Rahimpur on his maternal side.
