Ratris Khel Chale 3 (transl. The Game Runs At Night 3) is an Indian Marathi supernatural television series that airs on Zee Marathi. It premiered on 22 March 2021 and is a sequel to Ratris Khel Chale 2.[1][2]

Plot[]

15 years later from Ratris Khel Chale[]

All the glory of the Naik family and Naik wada have faded away post Nilima's treacherous act to usurp the Naik property. Mai has grown old and works as a maid at Agent Salgaonkar's house and Datta works as a servant to the farmer. Madhav is in trauma due to Nilima's act and Archis's suicidal death and become mentally unstable and gets troubled by the villagers. Abhiram has settled in Bangalore with his second wife, Kaveri, after divorcing Devika. Sushma is rich and wants to sell the Naik wada. Naik wada is in its worst condition with cracked walls, broken furniture, coated with dust and spider webs and yet possessed by Anna's ghost, Shevanta and the people killed by Anna.

A builder from Mumbai named Parulekar comes to buy Anna's wada. There, Anna serves him dinner and alcohol. However, when Agent Salgaonkar wakes him up in the morning, the palace-like wada has become ruined. Seeing this, Parulekar fled to Mumbai in panic. A police officer threatens an agent named Salgaonkar to get Anna's wada sold off. Madhav is teased by the villagers whereas Mai is troubled by Salgaonkar and his wife to sell the Naik wada. Sushma returns to the Wada in-order to sell it, but seeing Mai in front of the wada, starts hitting her. Mai writes a letter to Abhiram with the help of the postman who later is revealed to be a ghost. Abhiram wakes up at night taking Indu's name and decides to go to meet her.

Sushlya is the wife of a policeman, who previously threatened Salgaonkar. She and her husband want to sell the Wada but Mai is not ready to give her thumb on the legal deed, so Sushlya herself goes to the Wada and forcibly takes Mai's thumb, while Abhiram reaches the Wada with his wife, Kaveri. Abhiram introduces Kaveri to Mai and seeks her blessings. He decides to renovate the Wada and thus gives the contract to Agent Salgaonkar for the same. However, Shevanta's ghost possesses Kaveri and she falls sick. Meanwhile, Devika's parents arrive at the Wada and in misunderstanding, curse Abhiram for having abandoned Devika, citing that he is following his father's footsteps of infidelity and adultery. Meanwhile, Salgaonkar offers to take Abhiram to meet a godman named Raghunath Maharaj, who turns out to be Raghu Gurav, the old evil priest of the Naik family, who has now taken on the fake identity of Raghunath Maharaj and is conning people in the name of religion.

Abhiram was shocked when he finds out that Chhaya is now married to Raghu and is currently referred to as Chhaya Ma, and is an equal shareholder in Raghu's cunning scheme. She reprimands Abhiram for neglecting her in her tough times. After a few days, the Wada is rebuilt as before and Mai is very happy to see this. Later, Kaveri decides to return to Bangalore and finally, Abhiram prepares to go to Bangalore but extend their stay due to her illness. On way to a medical store, Abhiram meets Datta who is now turned into a thief and he asks for money. Later Kaveri starts frequently getting possessed by Shevanta's spirit and searches for Anna. Sarita learns about the renovation of the Wada and returns to claim her rights over property forcibly but a possessed Kaveri threatens her and throws her out.

Chhaya, Sarita who are supported by Sushlya enter Naik wada and claim for property. Anna Naik who was supposed to possess Abhiram mistakenly have possessed Sayajirao and Shevanta have possessed Kaveri completely start meeting each other frequently which troubles Sushlya and berates Sayaji for cheating her. Sushlya, Chhayama, and Sarita try to sell the Wada but Abhiram stops the agreement. Purva is married to a mentally disabled person and her father-in-law who has bad sight asks Datta for money. Purva's husband and father-in-law gets killed by Anna and Shevanta's ghost. During Ganpati festival, Datta gets arrested for fraud but gets released by Sushma's insistence when Kaveri requests her. Later that day, Sushma and Sayaji move into Naik Wada. Kaveri and Sayaji are threatened by Anna, Sheventa and other villagers ghosts.

Mentally unstable Madhav sees Kaveri and Sayaji who were possessed and misunderstands them thereafter getting sick with cold and fever. Mai takes on oath for Madhav's well-being which is later full-filled by Kaveri. For selling the wada, the Naik's and Sushma search for Anna's will which gets robbed by Sushma accompanied by Sarita. On the occasion of Abhiram and Kaveri's wedding anniversary, a possessed Kaveri and Sayaji hug each other. Abhiram sees this and mistakes them to have an affair. The Naik's ousts Kaveri from the wada also Sushma leaves with Sayaji and warns them to swearing revenge against the Naik's.

Abhiram gets misled by Anna and Shevanta's act and demeans Kaveri and gets disheartened. Sarita, Chhaya, Raghu add to fuel while Datta and Purva sides by Kaveri. Mai also gets also gets misled and ousts Kaveri but she returns possessed as Sheventa. Raghu, Sarita, Chhaya try to oust Kaveri by using tricks and black magic. When Kaveri possessed by Sheventa attack Mai, she senses some evil force residing in Kaveri and hence try understanding the situation and sides by Kaveri also tries to help her to fix her relation with Abhiram. Mai asks Raghu to perform some rituals to drive away evil forces from Kaveri and the wada. Shevanta and Anna learns about this and tortures him. In the meantime, Raghu and Chhaya's evil works and cunning scheme is revealed to the villagers. He takes a hiding spot in the secret dungeon behind the Naik Wada ultimately getting supernaturally killed by the ghosts. Meanwhile, Kaveri's positive attitude forces Abhiram to change his decision and again accepting Kaveri. When Kaveri possessed Shevanta tries to kill Raghu, Mai learns about this and confront Sheventa and challenges her to free her spirit and save her family from her evil clutches.

When Shevanta tries to kill the Naik's, Mai in order to save them, empties the Wada. Only Shevanta possessed Kaveri stays back in the wada awaiting her reunion with Anna possessed Sayaji. In the meantime, Sushma and the Naiks learn about the ghost and their possession. When Mai consultant a Guruji, he refers him to a souceress who is revealed to be Vacchi. Vacchi gains Mai's trust and enter the wada and tries to deal with Anna and Shevanta. Anna and Shevanta deal with Vacchi to leave the possessed bodies and the wada with a condition of their marriage. She also asks the ghost to heal a mentally unstable Madhav. When the Naik's returns to the Wada, the oust Vacchi and break free a possessed Kaveri and Sayaji from her holy circle. Anna and Shevanta decide to kill all the Naiks and live in the Wada solely.

Vacchi uses her powers and control Madhav and makes him her disciple. They control the ghosts and promise their marriage. With an ongoing wedding in the village, Anna and Shevanta decide to marry soon. Vacchi asks Sushlya and Sayaji to stay back in the wada to control the spirit's actions. When Vacchi delays the wedding, Anna and Shevanta try to kill Sarita and Kaveri. Vacchi to save the Naik's promises the ghost to get them married on the occasion of Anna's Tith and the forthcoming eclipse night. Indu gets furious on Vacchi's actions.

On 14 February 2021, Zee Marathi and the production house confirmed the production of Ratris Khel Chale 3.[4][5]

Casting[]

Madhav Abhyankar returned as Anna Naik.[6] Apurva Nemlekar returned as Shevanta.[7][8] Shakuntala Nare, Mangesh Salvi, Sainkeet Kamat, Anil Gawde, Suhas Shirsat, Prajakta Wadaye and Namrata Pawaskar reprised their roles as Indumati, Madhav, Abhiram, Raghu Gurav, Dattaram, Sarita and Chhaya respectively whereas Purniema Dey[9] was offered the role of Sushma Naik (Sushlya) who was previously played by Rutuja Dharmadhikari.[10] Bhagya Nair selected for the role of Kaveri who speak Malayalam language.[11][12]

In November 2021, actress Apoorva Nemlekar quit the series due to bullying by co-actors and also due to dispute with the channel.[13] Soon she was replaced by actress Krutika Tulaskar.

Location[]

The filming location is based in the Konkan. The production and filming again took place in that Naik's Wada.[14][15] The production and filming of the series then took place in Akeri, Maharashtra in Konkan Region.[16]

Filming[]

The filming of the series started in February 2021 in the same Naik Wada in Akeri, Maharashtra. On 13 April, Chief minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray, announced lockdown due to the rise of COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra and hence the filming is halted since then and aired last fresh episode on 30 April.[17][18]

In late July 2021, writer and actor Pralhad Kudtarkar confirmed the resuming of the series. On 8 August 2021, channel released an official promo of Shevanta (Apoorva Nemlekar) indicating the return of the show from 16 August 2021.[19][20]
