Reine Swart (née Malan) is a South African director, writer and actress. She obtained her Industrial Engineering degree at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. Reine was a part of the first Afrikaans surf film, Die Pro, by kykNet.[1][3][4][5] She appeared alongside Tye Sheridan, Bel Powley and Emory Cohen in the feature film Detour.[6][7] Reine has appeared in various American, British and South African TV shows which includes Dominion for Syfy, Villa Rosa where she was a principal character for kykNet and Jamillah and Aladdin for CBBC.[8]

In 2016 Reine worked as the lead with Academy nominated director Darrell Roodt on the feature film Siembamba, which is a horror film set to premier in 2017.[9][10] In the beginning of 2017, Reine completed filming on the TV series Origins produced by Nat Geo. Reine worked alongside James Badge Dale in 20th Century Fox's The Empty Man, which is set to premier in 2018.[11]

In 2018, Swart made her feature film directorial debut on the horror film Heks, which was released in South Africa under the title Her Mask and in the United States as The Hex in 2020. That same year, Swart was part of an ensemble cast in the horror-comedy Triggered, which was released in the United States in November 2020 and in South Africa in January 2021.
