Coaching career[]

Early career[]

Marić started his career as head coach in the Austrian club of TSU Handenberg in the 2014–15 season, after being a youth coach since 2010. The next season he joined the youth section of RB Salzburg, assisting Marco Rose.[1]

Salzburg[]

For the 2017–18 season, with its very good results in the youth section, Marić became an assistant of the first team, with Rose succeeding Oscar Garcia as head coach of RB Salzburg.[2][3] In his first season, the team won the Austrian championship and reached the semi-finals of the Europa League, beating teams like Borussia Dortmund and Lazio. The final of the Austrian cup against Sturm Graz was lost. In the second season, RB Salzburg started the league with ten wins which broke the previous record of the league. In the Europa League they reached the quarter final against Napoli. The team never lost a home game during his presence at Salzburg.[4]

Borussia Mönchengladbach[]

For the 2019–20 season, René Marić joined Borussia Mönchengladbach, as assistant manager of Marco Rose.[5][6]

At the end of the 2020-21 Bundesliga season Marić left Mönchengladbach along with Rose and Zickler.
