The Revolt of Querétaro 1823 was an armed conflict waged by the Imperialist fraction after the fall of the First Mexican Empire and the victory of the Casa Mata Plan Revolution.

Revolt[]

On December 12, 1823, the 8th Regiment based in Santiago de Querétaro mutinied, led by a Spanish sergeant and an Andalusian from Cádiz, arrested commander José Joaquín Calvo and other provincial government offices. city, seized the park and weapons and prepared to take their movement throughout the province.

General Nicolás Bravo, who after the Guadalajara Rebellion led his forces east towards the state of Guanajuato, was stationed near Santiago de Queretaro in Celaya. He and his forces were able to move quickly and suppress the revolt. With the approval of the government, Bravo disbanded the revolting regiment and arrested the leaders of the rebellion.
