Richard Brown is an American politician in the Missouri House of Representatives, elected in November 2016 to represent District 27, and is a member of the Democratic Party (United States).[1] Since 2019, he serves as the Assistant Minority Floor Leader of the Missouri House of Representatives.[2]

Born July 13, 1963 in Ft. Riley, KS, his family moved to Kansas City a few months later when his father was stationed there as a recruiter for the United States Army. He was raised in the Parade Park neighborhood in the historic 18th and Vine neighborhood until moving to the Sheraton Estates neighborhood in 1972. Brown is also known as one of the "Kansas City Eight." These were eight boys rescued by MLB All-Star Centerfielder Amos Otis during the September 12, 1977 flood of Kansas City.
