Rise is an upcoming Christian sports drama film directed by Kevin Rodney Sullivan and starring Sterling K. Brown. Originally slated for a release in April 2020, it was taken off the schedule and has been shelved indefinitely.

Plot[]

The film tells the true story of Willie Davis (Sterling K. Brown), a high school janitor who steps up to coach the failing basketball program. As he inspires his team to prioritize "The Lord, books and basketball" toward success in sports and life, he turns things around for them all, leading them on to the state championship.[1]

It was announced in early 2019 that Sterling K. Brown would star as Davis. Filming commenced in May 2019, in Louisiana, lasting around 30 days.[1][2][3][4][5]

Release[]

The film was originally set to be released on April 10, 2020, but was taken off the schedule in lieu of the COVID-19 pandemic with no new release date announced. As of 2022, the film's release status is unknown.
