Robert Fowler (bishop of Ossory)
The Rt Rev Robert Fowler, DD, MA[1] was an eminent Anglican bishop in the late eighteenth and early 19th centuries.[2]
Fowler was educated at Westminster[3] and Christ Church, Oxford.[4] He was Dean of St Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin from 1793 to 1794;[5] Rector of Urney[6] and Archdeacon of Dublin from 1794 until 1813; Bishop of Ossory[7] from 1813 to 1835;[8] and then the inaugural Bishop of Ossory, Ferns and Leighlin[9] from 1835 until his death aged 75 on 31 December 1841.[10]
He was the son of Archbishop Robert Fowler of Dublin.[11]
