Rogue City (French: Bronx) is a 2020 French action film directed and written by Olivier Marchal and starring Lannick Gautry, Stanislas Merhar, David Belle and Kaaris. It was released on Netflix on 30 October 2020.
Premise[]
Set in Marseille, an anti-gang police gang with unorthodox methods investigate a shooting at a nightclub alongside a longtime rival unit.
Plot[]
Paul Maranzano visits his wife in the hospital and suffocates her with a pillow to put her out of her misery. At a party, a gang execute a handful of the attendees. Rizzo hides his bulletproof vest in a freezer. Costa interviews Rizzo, asking if he is right-handed or left-handed, only to bang his head, choke Rizzo, murder him and plant the gun in his hand. Willy Kapellian gets drunk and drives away with a female officer, only to get shot at by an unknown assailant. Fearing that Will will lose his job, Richard Vronski volunteers to take the blood test in his place. The police force engage themselves in a battle between an unknown enemy, after which incriminating evidence is found against Will resulting in him committing suicide. The film ends with the police force being murdered.

Production[]
The film was announced in May 2019, with Jean Reno, Lannick Gautry, Stanislas Merhar, and David Belle joining the cast. Filming took place that September in the south of France.[1]
Release[]
Rogue City was digitally released by Netflix on October 30, 2020. In its debut weekend, it was the second most-streamed film on the site.[2]
Critical response[]
Elisabeth Vincentelli of The New York Times gave the film a negative review, writing: "Violent, law-defying cops would be a tough sell at any time, but Rogue City is oblivious to the changed context surrounding their stories. They don't hold much romantic allure nowadays."[3]
