Ron Butler (guitarist)
Ron Butler is a Jamaican guitarist, notable for his association and work with several Reggae groups and also with producer's including Quincy Jones. With groups and artists such as Dennis Brown, Berris Hammond, Tyrone Downie, The Wailers, Kymani Marley, Israel Vibration, Jah Mallah, The Meditations, Max Romeo, Lee Scratch Perry, Worl-a-Girl, producer Commissioner Gordon, Denise Williams, Glen Washington, Eek-A-Mouse and Anthony B, Slightly Stoopid and many more.
Butler has been a professional musician for approximately 30 years and studied Jazz and Commercial Music at Five Towns College in New York.
Ron Butler played on Denroy Morgan's hit album I'll Do Anything For You on the title track as well as "Happy Feeling" and "Sweet Tender Love" from the same album. His first release was with Tyrone Downie and The Naturals. Israel Vibration's Fighting Soldiers. Eek-a-Nomics by the one and only Eek a Mouse. Revival by the Congos and many more R&B, Funk Roots and dancehall recordings.
Ron Butler's tone and versatility make him one of the most talented guitarists in the world of reggae funk and R&B.
Butler also had a minor role in the movie The Color Purple as the bassist in the "Juke Joint" and also performed on two songs on the soundtrack. He last performed with Israel Vibration as a member of the backing band "Roots Radics". Ron is working currently with reggae artist King Banga.. more to come!...
