The Roots School System (RSS) is a for profit organisation controlling a set of educational establishments in Pakistan for age two to higher education. It is one of several educational "school systems" in operation in Pakistan, most of which are "for-profit" and operate at the elitist end of the educational spectrum.

History[]

The organisation was founded by Riffat Mushtaq with the first institution at Harley Street Rawalpindi with a claimed intention to introduce the Montessori education method in North Pakistan.[3] The organisation has spread with her children operating separately in what Riffat describes as "healthy competition":[4] Khadija Mushtaq being CEO of the Roots Ivy International University; Faisal CEO of Roots Millennium Schools; and Walid CEO of Roots International Schools.

As of 2016 RSS was the only system in Pakistan that catered from ages two and over to undergraduate.[5]
