History[]

Bank building in Moscow on Mashi Poryvayevoy Street

Founded in 1993 under the name of AKB Nezavisimost (Independence), the legal status of the bank has evolved several times (1994: TOO, 1996: ZAO).

In September 1998, Interros holding company bought the bank and renamed it to Joint Commercial Bank (JCB) "Rosbank". In 1999 the bank's legal status changed to Open Joint Stock Company (OJSC).

On 21 November 2000, the Vladimir Potanin and Mikhail Prokhorov associated bank ONEKSIMbank (Russian: "ОНЭКСИМ-банк") (akas: Uneximbank; Onexim Bank; Oneksimbank) merged with Rosbank.[4]

In 2003 Rosbank acquired “OVK” banking group, having considerably enlarged the bank network. The cost of deal was US$200 million.

In 2006 Societe Generale acquired 20% of Rosbank with an option to purchase an additional package of 30% +2 shares for US$1.7 billion till the end of 2008. This option was exercised in February 2008.

Merger with BSGV and rebranding[]

In February 2010 shareholders of Rosbank agreed to consolidate Societe Generale assets in Russia, Rosbank, Bank Société Générale Vostok (BSGV) and two other entities: DeltaCredit and Rusfinance Bank. In January 2011 DeltaCredit and Rusfinance became 100% subsidiaries of Rosbank.

On 1 July 2011 Rosbank merged with BSGV. The joint bank has kept the name “Rosbank”, well known to the clients. The new bank's logo is red-and-black square with a white stripe – the symbol used by the Group in all countries of its presence. “Societe Generale Group” endorsement line also refers to the belonging to the group.

In 2011 Rosbank launched a rebranding program to be finalized in 2013. The replacement of outlet signage started in autumn 2011 accompanied by an advertising campaign to support the new brand. On 9 August 2011 the first outlet designed according to the new corporate style was opened.

The new bank's website was launched: the website was constructed with the idea to present the information in the most comfortable way for the client. The site was designed in compliance with the new corporate style of the unified Rosbank.

In October 2011 all outlets and ATMs have been unified to provide clients with the same conditions and functionalities. Rosbank own network of ATMs amounted 3 000 machines. The partnerships with other banks in order to enlarge the ATM network were extended. Rosbank is a member of the Unified Operations System (ORS), which gives the possibility to its clients to use most of the banking terminals present in Russia (terminals working with ORS system, certainly labeled) without additional fees.

On 2 May 2012 an agreement between Rosbank and Alfa-bank was signed to unite both ATM networks. The similar agreement was signed with Raiffeisen Bank and from 1 December 2012 the ATMs of both banks are available to withdrawal operations without additional fees. Customers can also get the information about the card balance and pay for housing and public services. Thus, the number of ATMs available for Rosbank clients reached 21 000 machines.

On July 1, 2019, DeltaCredit mortgage bank ceased to be an independent bank and became part of Rosbank as a division called "Rosbank Home" (Росбанк Дом).[5]
